The main purpose of this course is to introduce the concepts of statistically determinate forces, types of structures and internal loads. This course also introduces engineering students to the basic techniques required for analyzing the majority of the structures and elements which most of structures are composed, including beams, frames, arches, trusses and cables. At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the following terms: fundamental concepts of structural analysis, stability and determinacy of structures, analysis of trusses, beams, frames, arches and cables, analytical expressions and diagrams, work and energy principles and their applications in the deformation analysis of structures, influence lines for statically determinate structures.
