Aim of this course is to teach the basic principles and sscope of temperate zone fruits such as apple, pears, sweetberry, peach, plum, almond and others. Cultural practices of each fruit species are discussed in details with the exception of the herbicious strawberries and cranberry, the temperate zone fruits species are deciduous woodyt perennials. To inform the students about their proper site selection and establishment of the planting which are the first two important steps of fruit culture. Dormqncy and late spring frost damages are very crucial points for the cultivation. Therefore, all the details and possible solutions are the problems being discussed during the semester. Harvesting, post harvest, handling and processing as well as marketing are discussed in the scope of the course.
