The tropical crops are also called exotic crops and are mostly grown in hot tropical climates nearby Equator. Tropical crops can not withstand even to a short period light frots. Some of the typical tropical fruits are: Banana, avocado,  mango, coffee, and pineapples. However, they can be cultivated in some protected marginal locations and in the greenhouses in subtropical regions. On th other hand, subtropical crops are warm or mild temperature crops throughout the year. They can withstand to a light temperatures. Citrus species such as orange, mandarine, lemon and lime are thypical subtropical crops as well as figs, olives, some avocadoes, pomegranates, carobs and some grape cultivars.

In this course, the students given detailed information about the cultivations methods of the both types of crops. One or two excursions are  organized for the students in a semester to meet the growers in order to discuss cultivation practices and encountes problems from plantation to marketing. At the end of the course, the students are equiped with enough information to make their own decisions and evaluations about the tropical and subtropical crop cultures.
