This course introduces students to the modern and historical concepts of public health. Students are expected to define public health, explain the goals of public health—to improve health and eliminate health disparities, describe the leading global health problems, including their causes and methods for prevention, state and apply the methods used to measure the health of populations, devise solutions to public health issues and carry out analysis, describe the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to public health, policy, decision making and the public health approach.
