COPS503 CONTEMPORARY APPROACHES IN PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING

Theoretical foundations, basic concepts, principles and methodologies of contemporary psychological movements based on psychological counseling practices. This course seeks to explain and explain all contemporary psychological theories in a systematic coherence. This course aims to help students understand and use contemporary psychological counseling theories in order to determine appropriate counseling goals to develop a therapeutic relationship, to design intervention methods, to evaluate client outputs, and to successfully terminate the client-counselor relationship. In this course, students will focus on the following topics: Assistance in Counseling, Existentialist Theory, Client-Centered Theory, Gestalt Theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Theories, Rational Emotional Behavioral Theory, Reality Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), Family System Theories, Feminist Theory , Oriental Therapies, Body-centered Counseling, Constructivist and Integrative Approaches, Other Psychotherapies.
