This course is designed to provide an introduction to the new multi-disciplinary field of Smart Grid. The course is aimed for graduate students. The course offers an advanced presentation of modern electric power systems, starting from a brief review of their structure and their physical components, through modeling, analysis, computation, and sensing concepts. The main focus is on the smart infrastructure system, and smart management system. The key concepts of power systems, renewable energy generation, microgrids, energy storage, smart grid communications, advanced metering infrastructure, smart meters, demand management, security/privacy, and economic aspects of smart grids are within the scope of this course.
