The main aim of the course is to provide basic information about physical principles, physiological effects, application methods, indications and contraindications, and hazards of heat, light, hydrotherapy modalities to students. The topics within the scope of this course are basic cell and tissue structure and properties, definition and steps of inflammation; definition and theories of pain; repair mechanisms; physical properties of heat and light; the effects of superficial temperature modalities and physiological effects of infrared, laser, ultraviolet, helioterapy and cold application on inflammation and pain; the aim and physiological effects of using hydrotherapy. Students will summarize, the heat, light and hydrotherapy issues according to detailed and clinically applicable knowledge and skills in the treatment of illnesses based on scientific bases.
