This course explains the structure and functions of the organ systems of the human body, physiological processes, homeostatic mechanisms and their coordinated activity within the total body system to maintain cellular integrity. Organization of the cell, homeostasis, membrane transport mechanisms, regulation of fluid and electrolyte balance in the body, membrane potentials, action potentials, excitable tissues, skeletal and smooth muscle, mechanisms of muscle contraction, synaptic transmission, peripheral nervous system, cranial nerves, autonomic nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory systems will be discussed in detail.
