The overall aim of the Advanced Studies Applied Linguistics course is to enable PhD students to improve their professional knowledge of language and use it in the teaching of L2 and in conducting a research study by focusing on the essential features of language such as phonology, morphology, lexis, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and discourse.

At the end of this course, (1) the learners will be able to:  compare English and another language in terms of their phonological, morphological, syntactic and pragmatic properties, (2) analyze learners’ errors at the phonological, morphological, syntactic and pragmatic levels, (3)  evaluate the L2 pragmatic development of learners of English
