The course provides an in-depth analysis and design on high rise buildings with emphasis on fundamental approach. Manual computation will be introduced from the basics throughout the seminar to facilitate the understanding, complemented by computer methods as means of verification and implementation. Some novel techniques such as two-cycle moment distribution, principle of virtual displacement (with short cut), powerful simplified unified approach in concrete section analysis/design, stability index, and FC method are highlighted. Participants would surely have eye-opening to the fundamentals of high rise building from the perspectives of consulting engineers.    It covers the introduction and general considerations for tall buildings, Structural systems in tall buildings, Wind effects, Structural analysis and design, Seismic design, Earthquake behavior & performance, and planning & site organization for tall buildings.
