The Cyprus conflict is one of the longest running disputes at the agenda of the United Nations. It has had a huge impact on the geopolitics of the Eastern Mediterranean region. Many attempts at resolving the conflict has failed for various reasons, leaving the issue as one of the thorniest issues on the UN agenda. The course will give a overview of the history and politics of the Cyprus conflict. The course overviews the past as well as current developments in both Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities and ultimately assess the likelihood of a federal or two-state solution to the Cyprus conflict.
