This course aims to analyze different cultures in the world in a comparative perspective, taking diverse cultural levels into consideration. Outgoing from a definition of the term "culture" we will work out cultural universals as well as differences they exist in between world people. Furthermore we will examine why communication and contacts between certain cultures seem to be easier than between others. At least the course aims to relate the term "global world" to the various existing civilizations, questioning as far the world cultures turn into being hybrids.
