Main aim of this course is to generate necessary conceptual, historical, theoretical and methodological background to assess the different aspects of the human rights from a multi-cultural perspective. To serve this main goal it will mainly focus on the basic concepts, theories, methods, and measures of human rights; history of ideas and institutions of human rights; international regimes of human rights, issues in human rights respectively. This course also intends to develop a functioning and internally consistent theoretical, methodological and practical background for the students to understand and explain the specific cases of human rights regulations and practices in the multicultural world. Within this framework, the students will be requested to use their theoretical and methodological stances and choices while analyzing different cases of human rights practices and issues in the world.
