Space is not just a physical phenomenon people can use. There are many aspects of human life which has direct or indirect effects on shaping and functioning in one space. Culture is one of the most important aspects of a society that has a direct effect on people’s lives. 

Therefore, this course is about introduction to the range of research into man-made environment relationships which have implications for design disciplines; an attempt to understand the relationships of the physical environment and cultural factors. It discusses theories, models, approaches, and important concepts in manmade environment relationships; culture, and space including basic concepts such as privacy, personal space, territoriality, identity; home environment, and culture.
