This course introduces pre-service English language teachers to the principles and practices of program and curriculum development in English Language Teaching (ELT). It examines the processes involved in designing, implementing, evaluating, and revising language teaching programs. Particular attention is given to needs analysis, situational analysis, formulation of aims and learning outcomes, syllabus design, selection and sequencing of content, materials development, assessment, program evaluation, and curriculum renewal.
Throughout the course, students will examine existing ELT programs and gradually develop components of their own language teaching program. The course connects theoretical perspectives on curriculum development with practical decision-making in different ELT contexts.
