Cyprus problem is one of the longest running disputes at the agenda of the United Nations. It has had a huge impact on the foreign relations of Turkey as well as on her economy. Many attempts to solve the issue has failed for various reasons, leaving the issue as one of the main obstacles in Turkey’s EU accession path. The course will give a historic overview of the Cyprus problem, analyze the past as well as the current strategies used by the Turkish and Greek side at and outside of the negotiation table and assess the impact of different likely scenarios on the future of the island as well as Turkey.
