The main aim of this course is to enhance the understanding of petrological characteristics of both Northern Cyprus and Eastern
Mediterranean as a whole. Within the scope of the course, the geological characteristics as well as mineralogic and petrophysical
characteristics of the rock formations in TRNC will be studied in detail, related to their origin and engineering characteristics. The
same will be realized for the rock formations of the Eastern Mediterranean as a whole, concentrating on the same issues. In addition
to the ever-important oil-gas holding capacity, properties of the rocks such as density, permeability and porosity will also be
studied.
