This is an introduction course in
interpretation skills. The aim of this course is to develop students’ skills in
interpretation in various fields and scenes. This course also s
erves as the final preparation for entry
into the profession at a distinguished level through development of career
portfolio to meet summative degree requirement and development of strategies
for gaining work as a professional translator. This course also prepares
students for area degree examinations and employer tests by reviewing previous
exam materials and employer testing requirements. T
he interpreter translates the message in the
target-language as quickly as he or she can formulate it from the source
language, while the source-language speaker continuously speaks. In the ideal
setting for oral language, the interpreter sits in a sound-proof booth and
speaks into a microphone, while clearly seeing and hearing the source-language
speaker via earphones
