The objective of this course is to provide the necessary knowledge of probability and statistics theory to solve a variety of data science problems. Fundamental concepts such as random variables, independence, expected values, standard errors and central limit theorem are covered. The tools that are frequently used in data science, like Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood estimation, are highlighted. Upon completion of this course, students will be capable of employing probabilistic and statistical models for data manipulation and using the statistical programming language R to perform statistical data analysis. Students will be able to suggest statistical techniques to estimate the parameters of probabilistic models that represent randomness in life. Students will also be prepared to use the new techniques in later machine learning courses.

This course provides an understanding of numerical mathematic applications in data science. The floating-point representation of real numbers, truncation and round off errors, iterative approaches, and convergence are some of the main points in numerical mathematics that are covered in this course. Students will study the most basic and crucial algorithms for the fundamental numerical mathematics problems, such as the solution of algebraic equations, numerical estimation of derivatives and integrals, solution of differential equations, approximation of functions by polynomials and Fourier series and solution of systems of linear algebraic equations. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to formulate and solve problems using mathematical methods and tools, identify, understand, and solve algebraic equations and develop experience with numerical and symbolic mathematical software.

The contents of this course are healthy periodontal tissues, periodontal surgery equipments and curette usage techniques. Studentdefines the periodontal tissues morphologically and histologically and distinguishes the healthy and diseased tissues, follows evidenced based dentistry knowledge and uses this contemporary information during the professional practice. Defines the microbiologic, immunologic and genetic properties of periodontal diseases and evaluates the effects of these properties to disease progression. Interprets the transition from health to disease by analyzing the factors that play a role in the development of periodontal disease (calculus, smoking, occlusion, etc.). Recognize periodontal hand tools and learn curette usage techniques. Understands the techniques of tartar cleaning and polishing. Applies oral care techniques.

The course focuses on the diagnosis and treatment planning, vital pulp treatments and root canal treatment applications in incisors and premolars, following medical and dental status evaluation in patients referred for endodontic treatment. Clinical endodontics contains: principles of use and sterilazation of instruments used in endodontics, medical and dental examination, diagnosis and treatment planning, vital pulp treatments, local anesthesia application, saliva isolation, preparation of the entrance cavity, cleaning and shaping the root canal, intra-canal medication, root canal filling and radiographic imaging. This course aims to provide students with insights on how to design an advertising campaign, integrating knowledge they have acquired in previous advertising-related courses. First, by developing an actual advertising campaign from scratch, students will experience how all the functional areas of advertising (research, media, creative thinking) work together in the process of creating an advertising plan. Students will design creative works (e.g., preparing a message for ads, writing scripts, a hard copy layout for print ads), and make decisions on media placement. Secondly, students will be responsible for developing a public relations campaign proposal from inception to completion, synthesizing the information they have learned earlier in the program.

The method of econometric research aims, essentially, at a conjunction of economic theory and actual measurements, using the theory and technique of statistical inference as a bridge pier. Econometrics is an amalgam of economic theory, mathematical economics, economic statistics, and mathematical statistics. Economic theory makes statements or hypotheses that are mostly qualitative in nature. For example, the microeconomic theory states that other things remaining the same, a reduction in the price of a commodity is expected to increase the quantity demanded of that commodity. But the theory itself does not provide any numerical measure of the relationship between the two. It is the job of the econometrician to provide such numerical estimates. Stated differently, econometrics gives empirical content to most economic theories.
The main concern of mathematical economics is to express economic theory in mathematical form (equations) without regard to measurability or empirical verification of the theory. Econometrics, as noted previously, is mainly interested in the empirical verification of the economic theory.
Economic statistics is mainly concerned with collecting, processing, and presenting economic data in the form of charts and tables. These are the jobs of the economic statistician. But the economic statistician does not go any further, not being concerned with using the collected data to test economic theories. Of course, one who does that becomes an econometrician.
Although mathematical statistics provides many tools used in the trade, the econometrician often needs special methods in view of the unique nature of most economic data, namely, that the data are not generated as the result of a controlled experiment. The econometrician, like the meteorologist, generally depends on data that cannot be controlled directly.
In econometrics the modeler is often faced with observational as opposed to experimental data. This has two important implications for empirical modeling in econometrics. First, the modeler is required to master very different skills than those needed for analyzing experimental data. . . . This course is designed to explain the importance of money and banking to economic activity. This course offers a systematic analysis of monetary theories and the financial system. Apart from exposing students to different approaches in monetary analysis, the course places a special emphasis on the up-to-date analysis of how information costs affect financial structure and monetary policy. The course will cover the structure and importance of the financial system, the functions of money, behavior of interest rates, financial structure and asymmetric information, bank management and regulation, debates on macroeconomic and monetary policies, the targets and instruments of monetary policies, the transmission mechanism of monetary policy and its effectiveness, money and inflation, rational expectations and its applications.

The course focuses on the analysis of cross-sectional economic data with particular emphasis on binary and categorical outcomes, survey-based primary data, and simple experimental designs. It aims to provide undergraduate students with a practical and intuitive understanding of how economists model and interpret qualitative outcomes using cross-sectional econometric methods. By the end of the course, students will be able to understand the logic of survey and experimental data, code and interpret binary variables, estimate and interpret Linear Probability, Logit, and Probit models, and apply basic discrete choice methods using STATA. The course emphasizes interpretation, causal reasoning, and applied skills rather than mathematical derivations.

This course provides students with a better understanding of the structure of energy and resource markets. An overview of the theory and empirical practice of economic analysis will be used in evaluating energy and environmental problems. Topics covered include the natural resource economics, as well as electricity and oil markets. Other topics include environmental policy (pollution and economic efficiency); analysis of economic instruments, such as tradable property rights and pollution taxes; the allocation of non-renewable and renewable resources; and contemporary issues of growth, sustainable development and climate change. They will also be able to understand electricity markets and the economics of climate change.
